As many of you know I have been in private practice for many years and have led lots of training programs in various topics related to psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, sex therapy, and mental health. It dawned on me in preparing for the monthly group supervision I do with LPC Interns that the vast majority of the material covered in these meetings is about ethics. The question surfaced, why not open the attendance to all LPC’s in the area and make these sessions all about ethics?
The state requires us to accumulate CEU’s in ethics for re-licensing. For some this may be an easy task to fulfill, but for many it can be rather costly and sometimes very inconvenient. I am a CEU provider and can provide certificates of attendance & participation. The 90-minute monthly sessions equate to 1.5 CEU’s, so attending four of them would fulfill the licensing requirement. The only fee I ask, $10/session, is to cover the cost for reporting back to the state, preparing the certificates, and record keeping.
The time for the sessions has been the last Saturday morning of each month between 9:30 am to 11:00am. For those of you not familiar with the office building where my practice is located, it is The Anchor Suites, 1525 Lakeville Dr., Suite 113, Kingwood 77339. There are conference rooms available in the building, along with a kitchen where coffee and tea are available at no cost. We will be in one of the conference rooms overlooking the beautiful pond and wooded background.
The format of each session involves a predetermined topic. I am opening the invitation to all LPC’s for Saturday, January 27, 2017 from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Our topic will be Dual Relationships. Counselors and therapists are especially invited to participate and contribute their own understanding of what this issue means and strategies for preventing the compromising of the clinical relationship.
Please call my office at 281-812-3322 if you are interested in attending.
Looking forward to seeing you and sharing some valuable information and insights.
